I had a few cracks in a small solar panel I use while camping after it got bumped into. I took some 3M clear 3” tape and covered the cracks and the panel still produces 2 years later and no problems yet. The tape is starting to yellow and peel but it lasted this long so I’m a Happy Camper !!,

Is the original gear metal or plastic? I cannot envisage a metal gear coping with the stress of normal operation with a repair made of plastic(epoxy). If the original item was made from a type of plastic then an epoxy repair may function. If the original item was metallic i seriously doubt any epoxy repair will cope with the stresses a component originally made from metal may experience.
